Motorways in Montenegro
The length of the network of public roads in Montenegro is 7762 km, of which 7141 km are paved. There are currently no roads built to motorway standards in Montenegro.
Toll roads
There are no tolls in Montenegro. Only the trip through the Sozin tunnel and the ferry in the Bay of Kotor is paid.
Previously, in Montenegro, depending on the category of vehicle, an environmental fee was charged for road trips (was charged when crossing the border), but this was canceled on January 1, 2012.

Tariffs for travel through the Sozinsky tunnel
The Sozina Tunnel is located north of the town of Sutomore on the E80 motorway . It was built around the Pastrovska Gora Mountains and is 4189 m long, and the tunnel has one traffic lane in each direction. The maximum speed in the tunnel is 80 km/h, overtaking is strictly prohibited.

When using prepaid cards or TAG devices, the payment can be reduced by 10%, provided that at least 50 trips are made within 4 years.
The payment station is located on the northern side of the tunnel from Podgorica. It contains 6 pay points that can be used in both directions.

Section Trebinho – Herceg-Novye
This is a 13 km long section from the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina to Herceg Novi. There is only one lane in each direction. The collection fee is located next to the border crossing. The fare for cars is 3 euros.
Tariffs for ferries in the Bay of Kotor.
The ferry crossing is located in the Boka Kotorska Bay on the Veriga Strait between the villages of Kamenari and Lepetani. The ferry can save up to 30 minutes when traveling from Budva to Herceg Novi or vice versa.
The distance between the banks is about 900 meters and the ferry sails in about 10 minutes. The only negative is the possible queues during rush hour. If you drive across the bay, it is approximately 42 km and the journey takes about 45 minutes.

The ferry operates all year round. In summer, ferries leave as soon as they are full, but at least every 15 minutes. In winter, the ferry departs once an hour at night (from 00:00 to 05:00).
Depending on the season, ferry prices may fluctuate in one direction or another (up to 0.5 euros).

Tickets are bought from a special kiosk on the pier before they are loaded onto the ferry. Upon purchase, you will receive a confirmation of purchase and a ticket. When boarding the ferry, hand over the ticket to the controller. He will rip your spine off and show you a seat on the ferry.

Required Equipment

Winter technology
Winter tires
The use of winter tires in Montenegro is mandatory from November 15 to March 31 for vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons, only if there is a continuous layer of snow or ice on the roads.
Failure to comply with this rule will result in a fine of 60 to 150 euros. If there is snow or ice on the road, the fine increases from 80 to 300 euros.
