The fee for trailers of categories O1 and O2 is paid only if the total weight of the vehicle exceeds 3.5 tons.

The annual stamp for the year 2022 is valid from January 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023. It is also possible to purchase an annual motorway stamp for 365 days, valid from the selected date for 365 days. The price is the same, i.e. 50 euros

The monthly fare is valid for 30 days from the date shown. The ten-day period is valid for 10 days from the specified date.

Official points of sale

The stamp of the Slovak motorway can be purchased at self-service machines at the former border crossings, at gas stations, post offices or individual car repair shops. Points of sale are marked with the eznamka logo. You can find the official list of points of sale on the website   www.eznamka.sk  .

The easiest way to get a motorway stamp online is at   eznamka.sk   because it is through a mobile application. The eznamka mobile application is free for   iOS   and   Android operating systems  .

Where to stick a road sign

The mark of the Slovak motorway does not need to be glued anywhere. When purchasing, you select a stamp according to the required validity period, enter the vehicle registration number and the country in which the vehicle is registered. When paying online, you must enter the e-mail to which you will receive a confirmation of payment. The vehicle is registered in such a way that the camera system recognizes it as it passes.

Vignette Expiration Information

If you have purchased a motorway token through the eznamka.sk website     via a mobile app, you will automatically receive a motorway token expiration message 3 days before it expires. If you purchase a stamp on the motorway in one of the outlets, you must provide your contact e-mail or phone number when paying.

Penalty for the highway brand

The fine for driving without a motorway toll is 100 euros. If the fine is paid within fifteen days, the amount is reduced to 150 euros. The driver can be fined once a month for this offence. In case of other offenses on a car without a toll, a fine of up to 500 euros can be imposed

Motorway stamp exemption in Slovakia

If you have a ZTP card, you can apply for a toll waiver. The application procedure and application form can be found on the website   www.eznamka.sk.

Confirmation of payment is desirable with you

When purchasing, enter the registration number of the car and the country where the car is registered. After payment, a confirmation of payment for the motorway is issued. According to the law, this document should not be mandatory for a roadside check. However, when checking, it is better to have a proof of payment with you.

Fines for speeding in Slovakia

In Slovakia, the system of fines is somewhat easier than in Western countries, but in recent years their application has been intensified. This is mainly due to the more frequent presence of patrol officers on the roads.

In one day, police officers can, for example, take measurements and inspections five times. For example, if a driver commits three serious offenses in a year, his driver’s license may be revoked.

In Slovakia it is forbidden to use a radar detector and be careful, navigation should not be located in the middle of the windshield.

Mandatory vehicle equipment in Slovakia

Required equipment must include:

  • reflective vest
  • warning triangle
  • first aid kit
  • fire extinguisher (mandatory for vehicles over 3.5 tons, only recommended for others)

Tires

Passenger cars must be equipped with winter tires if there is a continuous layer of snow or ice on the road.

From November 15 to March 31, trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons must be equipped with winter tires with a minimum tread depth of 3 mm.

Snow chains are permitted provided that the road is covered with a solid layer of snow or ice. Studded tires are prohibited.

Seat belts and helmets

The use of seat belts is mandatory in all seats in Slovakia, if the seats are equipped with them.

The rider and front passenger of a motorcycle over 50 cc must wear a crash helmet.

Children in the car

Children must be transported in an appropriate child support (seat or seat cushion) up to a height of 150 cm or 36 kg.

Children under 12 years old (and less than 150 cm) must not be transported in the front seats of a car.

Alcohol while driving

Slovakia has zero tolerance for blood alcohol while driving. Driving with a blood alcohol content of over 0.1% is considered a criminal offense. Further – judicial proceedings and the possibility of imprisonment for up to 1 year.

If the driver refuses to take an alcohol test, he faces a fine of 332 euros to 1328 euros and deprivation of the right to drive a car for up to 5 years.

Daytime Running Lights

In Slovakia, there is an obligation to turn on the dipped beam or daytime running lights. Fog lights are only permitted when visibility is poor in fog, rain or snow.
